The Gorge is great, although not as large as Samaria Gorge, about seven kilometres from the deserted village of Aradena Marmara beach. When walking in Crete at this location, the average person should expect to have about four hours to complete the route.

Walking difficulty

Aradena Gorge used to be considered a walking difficult, mainly due to a section where it was necessary to climb up the rope. However, this has now been replaced by a metal ladder, and there's even a path you can take to avoid it completely. However, it remains a hike a challenge that requires a bit of experience to complete it.

A tip to consider when you visit the Gorge's floor upwards. You may think that this would be more difficult due to the slope, but it really works as a hike easier.

Getting there

If you decide to go the Marmara the Aradena then you need to arrange transport. When starting of Marmara, this will involve a boat trip to Loutro or also can walk along the coast to the entrance of the Gorge. If you go with a guided walking holiday specialist, then this will no doubt be organized for you in advance.
