Moneygall is a quaint small town Irish County Offalay. Despite having only about 298 inhabitants according to a 2006 Census, he got huge media lately because of the recent visit of American President Barack Obama. Residents and distant relatives welcomed President Obama.
On May 23, 2011 more than 5000 people eager for Moneygall and its surroundings gave an ecstatic welcome to President Obama and first lady Michelle Obama. Among the crowd buzzing lost long distant cousins of President Obama. Falmouth Kearney, was grandfather of the Great-great-great President and was originally of Moneygall. Kearney emigrated to New York in 1850, when he was 19 years old.
President Obama spent a little more than he normally does on meeting and greeting as many people as possible before taking a stroll from the main street in Moneygall. He then entered briefly a House that was built on a plot of land where his ancestor, Falmouth Kearney, had lived once.
How would a trip to Ireland to be without visiting a world famous Irish pub? The Ollie Hayes was the perfect location for President Obama and his wife relaxing with his newfound family and enjoy a beer made from malt. Mrs. Obama was anxious to learn the correct way to pour a pint of stout, and she was welcomed to come behind the bar to try it. The President decided, in a traditional Guinness and knew enough to let it sit a minute before drinking. He also asked for help from one location to know exactly how long to let it settle before enjoying their delicious Irish beer. It certainly was a visit that neither the President nor the residents of Moneygall will forget.

Moneygall is located between the major cities of Dublin and Limerick. Is large enough to claim two pubs, post office and around five stores. Moneygall visitors can feel secure as it has a Garda station, which is essentially a police station be appointed by the Irish Government. The village also boasts of a local Catholic school. The local young people seeking secondary education usually travel to Roscrea or Nenagh. These are in nearby villages, which are slightly larger.
For parishioners, a church of Ireland Church at Borrisnafarney is located, which is only about 2 miles from Moneygall.
For visitors who are travelling by bus, a regular bus route that runs from Dublin and Limerick passes through Moneygall in time. This line is called Bus ireann.
Gaelic Athletic Association
Moneygall advantageously has a playing field of the Gaelic Athletic Association located across the county line in County Tipperary. Some select Moneygall athletes have the opportunity to participate in Tipperary Hurling Championship in which they compete against clubs from Tipperary Senior hurling County about them. The Club with the biggest talent of Tipperary hurling represent their county in the Munster Senior Hurling Championship Club. If you get there, they will have the rare opportunity to play and privileged Championship hurling All-Ireland Senior Club.
